Random Encounter – The Guide Book

Random Encounter was an artwork by Stephen Willats for Southampton City Art Gallery in 1997, that explored the very basis of society between people; what they can agree upon, what perceptions and beliefs they share. Participants, walking with another person, would use the book on the designated route from Southampton Art Gallery looking at the questions and associated images and texts to make their own agreed responses to the questions.
